Acupuncture for Children
I have always had a keen interest in
treating children with acupuncture having treated my own
children when I first qualified. Even young babies can benefit
from acupuncture and it is not always necessary to stimulate
the point with needles although this usually produces a better
result. Needles are inserted until the Qi is obtained.
Your child may cry a little but it is usually possible to treat
the child while they are on the parents lap. This tearfulness
usually only lasts for a few brief moments and will quickly
disappears once the needles are removed. Children respond very
positively to acupuncture.
With young children and babies the needles are only briefly
inserted and then removed. Whereas with older children and
grown ups a long time is needed to ensure that a desirable
effect is achieved. Occasionally I will use moxa or cupping as
part of this treatment.
